Love, Joy, Peace...
OUR STORY
It all started in an abandoned coal cellar in the late 1990s. Just on the county line of Muskingum and Perry County, deep in the southeastern region of Ohio. Pastor Lee Barnhart, his kind wife, and two wild sons lived a stone's throw off of Route 93 at 411 Gordon Street, Roseville, Ohio. After long days of working multiple jobs, volunteering in ministry, and working towards his educational goals, Pastor Lee always found the time to worship. And in a house with two boys, one of the only quiet places was the basement coal cellar. It was in that bleak and dark room that he would read his bible, pray intensely, and play his keyboard. And in a house full of commotion with two growing boys, late at night, you could always hear his voice rising from the base of the house as he sang his soul out and plotted elegant sounds across his keyboard. It was in those late nights that God would speak to him the most.
One dark night just before fall, in that cellar, he was praying and singing as he always did. There were no burning coals since the cellar was abandoned, but if you had been there, you would have been able to smell the very coals of his heart being kindled by the Holy Spirit. It was that night that Pastor Lee heard the words " From this spot, you will reach the world".
Almost 25 years later, our church has continued that vision, focusing on Perry County as a launch pad for our goal to reach the world with the good news of Jesus Christ. We believe that the whole world is crying out for freedom and that by showing Christ's plan for our lives to the world, we can bring real freedom to real people. We have so much more to do, and can't wait to see what God does with FreedomCRY Church as it continues to grow.

OUR VALUES
Present | Real | Excellent | Serving | Stable | Innovative | Nurturing | Growing
Our Values Core values are a way of guiding and shepherding actions & goals within our faith community. We all need to know what's expected of us to reach the same purpose. Even though our initiatives & functions will vary, our character and way of ministry should never waiver. So our values, what are they? We use a simple acronym to describe how we want to move forward. PRESSING is the word that describes everything we do. You will be pressed and challenged moving forward. Jesus says in John 16:33, "In this world, you will have troubles. But be brave! I have defeated the world!" So realize you will be pressed and asked to do difficult and big things for the kingdom, but the reward of seeing lives changed for the glory of God is all worth it.
BE PRESENT
Be fully engaged in all manner of activities that you are assigned or volunteer for. We know that life happens, and we fully expect it too. Please let us know when you are and are not available. If you can be there, then great, but if not, just give your team a heads-up beforehand.
BE REAL
Be genuine in words and in actions. We must be authentic to the core. Your diverse backgrounds and experiences create an opportunity for us to grow and help others. Be honest and forth right as you work with people who might see things differently.
BE EXCELLENT
Strive to achieve the highest standards along your ministry journey. We say "journey" because we know we all have flaws (Romans 3:23). So as you take steps and grow, keep pushing to the next level. And encourage others around you to rise to the occasion too. Think outside the box and come up with new ways of doing things. You got this!
BE SERVING
Genuinely prefer others and their needs over yourself & your needs. This is important. The ministry is never about one person, so when you're involved, always start with the needs of others. We know that Jesus was a serving leader (John 13), and that's how we carry ourselves in every outlet of ministry. God put these people in your path so you could bless them by serving their needs.
BE STABLE
Have some constant & positive behavior. We need you to be strong! The enemy will try and rob you of victories for God, but when you've done all to stand ... keep standing (Ephesians 6:10). Let's all agree to be positive in our spiritual posture. Nagging and negative comments can create more Church hurt than you know. This faith community is a place of healing. So embrace the joy of the Spirit of God and focus on the wins, not the losses.
BE INNOVATIVE
Always embrace new ideas and possibilities. God has a way of working outside our conventional concepts of reality. He sometimes does things differently than we think he should. When offered a suit of King Saul's armor, the boy David went with his own tools & slew the giant Goliath with just a few small stones and a sling (1st Samuel 17). You have gifts and talents that others don't. Use your gifts and talents to find new solutions for the kingdom. We don't make a difference by bringing problems to the table; we make a difference by bringing ideas & God-breathed solutions to the kingdom of heaven.
BE NURTURING
Cultivate an atmosphere of growth. Remember too, God instituted the family before he ever created the Church. Your family is your first ministry. So nurture them in the kingdom before anything else you get involved with. Strong families make strong kingdoms & we want a faith community strengthened by those families.
BE GROWING
Continually pursue personal & group growth! We want to reach all ends of the earth with the goodness of God. It's the goodness of God that leads people to repentance (Romans 2:4). So be good to the people around you and be kind to yourself along the way, knowing full well that you will be pressed into a more vibrant and healthy version of yourself for the kingdom of God.
